Response to Article:Fox News:Facebook to Launch Music Service

I chose this article since I felt that is relevent to our mandatory reading regarding Facebook. The article states that Facebook is to launch a new music service on September 22nd. The article states that this information is unconfirmed since it has not "officially" been released yet from corporate.
According to the article, Facebook will partner with a music company by the name of Spotify. They will be one of many that the social media that will be involved with.
I remember when Myspace.com ventured into the music realm. Even though Facebook is the more popular site currenlty. Myspace seems to be so far more advanced than Facebook at this point. Facebook's venture into the music realm may be the last nail in Mypace's coffin since the music application seemed to be the only function that separated the two at this point. Of course, the news of this is being kept a secret.
I look forward to listening to music while I'm on Facebook on September 23rd. It should be a great integration on their social networking site.

  1. I totally agree with you! I remember when I had Myspace a long time ago that I would always use that as my little personal radio. I would sing in and go straight to the music when I was doing homework. And you are completely right, Myspace had so much more you could do with you profile to really make it your own. I know I changed what mine looked like all the time with the hundreds of different backgrounds to choose from, different font and font colors to use, glittery pictures, and any picture you found off google could be uploaded onto you page.

  2. I'm not sure how I feel about music on facebook. Is it going to be like how myspace was and people would make playlists of their favorite songs so when you looked at their profile it would play? That was cool for a bit, but what I like about Facebook vs. Myspace is that it is simple. Myspace was too crazy with all the page changes and it took forever to load. I think that's why is died out SO quick once Facebook hit mainstream. Myspace turned more into making your page look cool than actually interacting with people on it. I just really hope Facebook strays away from the glits and glams of personalizing your Facebook page.
